The Circadian Optics Leo brightens up your life – literally and figuratively. First of all, this light could be the sun in your home.
Let me elaborate
The lamp provides the same kind of light emitted by the sun. This compact design also allows you to place the light wherever you want it.
It’s only around 1.6 pounds, which means you can take it anywhere with you. And you can definitely situate it wherever you think it belongs:
Anywhere in the living room
On a cabinet in the kitchen
On the sink in your bathroom
You might need to do some stuff in the bathroom that needs bright light like shaving or plucking or some first aid stuff. It’s also a great light for when you put on makeup–if that’s your thing!
But the best place for this kind of lamp is wherever you need to do a lot of work!
Where is that?
Your desk of course! If you are a student, this is where you do a lot of studying. You can focus on your lessons while also feeling energized the entire time you are studying.
Or if you are taking some work home, then you definitely need a bright light to keep your energy level up.
Circadian Optics knows what it’s doing. The company is known for making bright lights and lamps to mimic daylight.
This design is important because sunlight is some sort-of therapy. In Jane Eyre” Charlotte Bronte wrote: “Even for me, life had its gleams of sunshine.”
What does this mean?
It means that no matter how bleak life can be, there is always some kind of happiness that you experience from it. Sunshine is being referred to in a positive light.
Because sunlight stands for something positive. It means light and life.
The Leo certainly wants you to feel positive about your life. Leo doesn’t just brighten up your space, it also brightens up your disposition.
Circadian Options is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. But its founder, Amber Leong, has her roots in Malaysia.
Her story captivated mogul Mark Cuban and the other businessmen in the hit show Shark Tank(above). Cuban and Lori Greiner decided to invest in Leong’s business.
Now the company can afford to make a wide range of designer lamps that you can place on your desk and feel the positive energy of light. The bright lamps made by Circadian Optics aim to bring sunlight right on your desk!
The design is simple yet bold. It is small and dark gray, which means it won’t clash with any design motif you have going on–in case you are a stickler to design rules.
Despite the smallness of this thing, there is certainly power to it. It provides the recommended 10,000 LUX brightness in order for light therapy to work.
What is light therapy?
This is the process of exposing people to artificial light as a way of treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD), which is a form of depression that happens on a certain season–usually during winter or autumn.
The light therapy lamp, such as the Leo, mimics the outdoor light. It is believed to affect the brain chemicals that will help improve your mood and somehow ease SAD symptoms.
Can this really be true?
The lamp projects 5500K or 5500 degrees Kelvin. This is the color temperature of the mid-day sun.
It means that you get full-spectrum light that captures the likeness of sunlight wavelengths advantageous to animal and plant life. However, this light doesn’t have the harmful effects of UV rays.
Great benefits in just one quick touch! The lamp is very easy to use.
There are no complicated settings. You can choose three options in terms of the level of brightness.
This allows you to find the right brightness according to your needs. The right brightness provides maximum comfort and efficacy.
But you know what else?
The benefits you receive from the Leo can last for a long time because of the LED. You will enjoy the light for around 50,000 hours.
This means that you don’t need to keep replacing the bulb.
There aren’t a lot of negative aspects to the Leo.
The light is too bright that it’s hard to look at it directly. But then again, why do you need to look at it directly? You don’t look at the sun directly!
It would have been better, in my opinion, if there is an option for a dimmer light. Something that mimics dusk eh?
This is minor but is still a bit annoying: the power button is a bit too sensitive. So, I have to keep pressing it to get to the brightness I prefer.
The design is also really good! It’s so simple yet so elegant.
While it works as a light therapy lamp, it’s also a good decorative lamp for your boring desk. And if you already have a stylish desk, the neutral matte finish will only elevate the overall look.
And Does it Work?
Yes! The Circadian Optics Leo can help you beat winter blues! SAD is real and it can stake its claim over anybody.
So, it is better to be prepared whether you think you need it or not.
We live in a truly different time right now as we face the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19). It’s depressing to note that as of this writing, almost a million people have suffered from COVID-19.
Close to 50,000 people from around the globe have also died from the novel coronavirus.
Astonishing, isn’t it?
As we stay at home and self-quarantine in a bid to stop the spread of the virus, it would be very helpful if we have something that can help us with our blues.
The lamp can help us improve our mood as well as help us focus on what we can do to alleviate the situation.
Most people are working from home as the entire world–or most regions around the globe–goes into quarantine. You have a great light to help you focus on work without feeling sluggish despite not seeing the sun for quite some time.
The Circadian Optics Leo could be your best friend in this trying time!

Small but beautiful SAD light!
The Circadian Optics Leo is like your very own sun that you can park on your desk. It’s quite small but it casts a really bright light--sometimes too bright even.
What I really like about this is that because it’s quite small, it’s very versatile. I love it on my desk while I do my work, but there are also other places where this light is just perfect.
It’s a given, though, as Circadian Optics is an expert in creating SAD lights. The Leo can certainly perk up my day--or night!
